Fire Razes Shops in Ilorin Kwara State

According to Lagos State Minister Of health, Professor Abayomi announce that, #COVID19Lagos Update as at 29th April, 2020 87 new #COVID19 cases were confirmed in Lagos on April 29, 2020. The total number of confirmed cases in Lagos is now 947. The good news is that 49 additional #COVID19 survivors have been discharged following their full recovery. The total number of discharged patients in Lagos now stands at 187 We regret to announce additional #COVID19 related death involving a 25year old male who at the time of admission was in a state of severe breathlessness. Total number of #COVID19 related deaths in Lagos is now 20. I again urge Lagos residents to remain committed to observing necessary precautionary measures to stop #COVID19 infection. Fifa’s chief doctor has warned against restarting the interrupted 2019-20 campaign and suggested governing bodies prepare for action next season instead. Michel d’Hooghe said “as a doctor” he would be “sceptical” about continuing leagues amid the coronavirus pandemic. Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, on Tuesday, announced that the 15-member medical team from China tested negative to Coronavirus. Ehanire made the announcement while speaking at the daily Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 briefing. He noted that the Chinese tested negative after completing their compulsory 14-day isolation period. He said: “As for the Chinese persons who came in, the test has been done after they were quarantined for 14 days. All of them were negative. ”After that, the Federal Ministry of Health is done with that particular case. “The Chinese medics will be providing technical support to Nigeria in its fight against COVID-19, and also sharing experiential strategies of how their country curtailed the spread of the virus.” The Executive Director of China Civil Engineering Construction Cooperation (CCECC), Jacques Liao, had also said: “the primary purpose of the team is to provide CCECC employees with critical and necessary healthcare.”

Borno confirms 11 new cases of coronavirus

Borno State Government has confirmed 11 new cases of coronavirus in the state. The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, on Tuesday confirmed 195 new cases of coronavirus in the country. Out of the 195 cases, eleven were recorded in Borno. Confirming the development, the Borno State Ministry of Health in a tweet via its Twitter handle on Wednesday, said that two deaths were recorded in the state. The tweet read “As at 11:50pm 28th April, 2020, NCDCgov confirmed new 11 cases of Covid19 in Borno State. “Total cases: 53. Active: 50. “Discharged: 0. “Deaths: 2. “One case previously reported in Gombe State is now recorded as a Borno State case. “Therefore, the total number of cases in Borno is 53.”

Senate approves Buhari’s N850bn loan request

The Senate has approved the N850bn loan request of President Muhammadu Buhari. The president had sought the Senate’s approval for the loan to fund some projects in the 2020 budget. He made the request in a letter read on Tuesday by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, during plenary. Buhari sought to raise the loan from the Domestic Capital Market to finance critical projects and programmes in the 2020 budget. He said the recent developments in the global economic environment occasioned by coronavirus and decline in international oil prices had made it less attractive to borrow from the International Capital Markets. Buhari said the conditions in the Domestic Capital Market were favourable in terms of availability of funds and relatively low-interest rates. The letter read in part, “To ensure that there are adequate funds to finance critical projects and programmes in the 2020 Budget, I hereby seek the Senate’s approval, by Resolution, to raise the N850bn of New External Borrowing...

45-year-old man commits suicide in Imo

A 45-year-old man, Osita Ezuruike, on Tuesday, committed suicide at Umudafa, Awo Mbieri in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.   It was gathered that the deceased’s neighbours alerted the police after he found him hanging from the roof of his house. Spokesperson of the state Police Command Orlando Ikeokwu, who confirmed the incident said that  Ezuruike’s corpse had been taken to a morgue. “On April 27, acting on a report, operatives of the Divisional Police headquarters in Mbieri moved to Umudafa, Awo Mbieri, Mbaitoli LGA, in a house belonging to one Osita Ezuruike, 45, and met the lifeless body of the said Osita hanging. The reason for taking his own life could not be ascertained. However, the corpse has been removed to the morgue, while an investigation into the incident has commenced.” Ikeokwu said.

Federal government sends 110 trailer loads of rice, other grains to Kano

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development on Tuesday sent 100 trailer loads of rice and other grains to the Kano State government for distribution to the needy, vulnerable and people of concern in the state. The government had two weeks ago sent 10 trailer loads of bags of rice to the state. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, explained that the ministry delivered 10 trailer loads of parboiled rice to the state government about two weeks ago, and in addition to that directed National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to deliver 100 trailer loads of grains to five locations in in the state to poor and vulnerable households on the instruction of President Muhammadu Buhari. Oyo Record 2 death of Coronavirus

Gov Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has announced the death of another COVID-19 patient in the state, bringing the number of COVID-19 deaths in the state to two. Makinde, who stated this in his tweeter handle early Monday morning, said the deceased was one of the three people whose COVID-19 test results came back positive on Saturday. “Sadly, one of the new COVID-19 cases announced yesterday passed away this morning. “This brings the number of COVID-19 related deaths in the state to two. So, there are currently eight active cases in Oyo state,” the governor tweeted. Makinde said that all avenues were being exploited not to put the people at risk as a result of the partial lockdown being operated in the state. The governor, who stated this while answering questions on a live radio programme monitored in Ibadan, on Monday, said the government, would not hesitate to lockdown any community found suspicious of harbouring COVID-19 persons.

According to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, announced the death of another Coronavirus Death in Oyo State. This was mentioned in his twitter page that, "OYO STATE COVID-19 TASK FORCE UPDATE (APRIL 26, 2020) Sadly, one of the new COVID-19 cases announced yesterday, passed away this morning.
